There has never been a better time to ride the trails

Dave and Sue Tidey are a husband and wife team with a passion for cycling and mountain bike riding, particularly in their own backyard.  They combine personal experience, local knowledge, and attention to detail, to enable them to provide you with the best biking experience possible.  The business has been kept small because they love the personal touch of looking after their customers from beginning to end.

Whether it is a trip on the Otago Central Rail Trail, The Clutha Gold & Roxburgh Gorge Trails, or the most recent Lake Dunstan Trail that opened in May 2021, they will take care of all the organizing so you can enjoy genuine southern hospitality.

Dave and Sue are proud of the Central Otago District and are both looking forward to sharing the best of the trails with you and promoting where they live.

Your Adventure starts here!

River Track/ Millennium Trail

Grade 1 easy. The track is mainly flat with one or two boardwalks and bridges nearer Alexandra. It is a well-surfaced trail making it very easy for young families. It is particularly good in the height of summer when the willow trees give shade from the hot Central Otago sun.

Roxburgh Gorge

Grade 1-2 easy. If you are looking for a real taste of historic Central Otago then this ride is for you! Visually spectacular and stretching from Alexandra through to the Roxburgh Hydro Dam, the trail follows the Clutha Mata-au River.

Auripo Road/Otago Central Rail Trail

Grade 1 easy. Auripo Road is the highlight of the Otago Central Rail Trail covering the viaducts and tunnels as you ride an easy 47km back to Alexandra. Local cafes and pubs ensure you have something to eat and drink along the way while you enjoy the sights of the trail

Lake Dunstan

Grade 1 – 3 easy going with some harder sections. This is one trail not to be underestimated, and does require a certain level of experience - with plenty of surprises around every corner.

What our customers say about us

We would highly recommended Altitude Bikes after their excellent service and organisation of our Cromwell to Lawrence cycle trip. In establishing the itinerary we requested, Dave provided very valuable advice and guidance, arranged quality accommodation at each of our stops, and of course, outfitted us with modern, well-maintained e-bikes. This, together with Dave transporting us to Cromwell and back from Lawrence, and transferring our bags, was all done in a friendly, timely and professional manner, making for a most memorable cycling experience. Thank you, Dave and Altitude Bikes.
